The sight of seven guitar amps lined up on stage would be enough to thrill any axe-loving fan.
Add to that guitars being slung over the shoulders of some of Australia’s finest guitarists to pay homage to the great Eric Clapton, and you’ve got a concert set to rock!
Join us on Friday 25 August for Crossroads, a special evening at The Concourse, Chatswood to celebrate the music of the man known as EC, Slowhand and just plain God.
Crossroads gives seven great guitarists the chance to step out of the shadows of those pesky lead vocalists, and stand centre stage to cover tracks from Clapton’s entire career through The Yardbirds, Blind Faith, Cream, Derek & the Dominoes and his solo material.
The guitarists are Peter Northcote, Kevin Bennett (Chasin’ The Train), Kirk Lorange, Mal Eastick, Matt Smith (Thirsty Merc), Jak Housden (The Whitlams), Grant Walmsley (Screaming Jets), and Damien Robinson. The common thread being their passion for Clapton’s music and his extraordinary guitar playing.
Each guitarist will perform two of their favourite Clapton tracks, sometimes as instrumentals, sometimes with a guest vocalist. Expect collaborations a plenty, as guitarists join in on each other’s songs. The concert will end with an incredible finale as all seven guitarists take the stage.
Amongst his many accolades, the sublime Clapton is a 17-time Grammy Award winner and a three-time inductee into the Rock’n’Roll Hall Of Fame (with Cream, The Yardbirds and as a solo artist). For any lover of Clapton’s music or just great rock’n’roll guitar playing, Crossroads is rare musical offering and a night not to be missed!
