Our Holy Metropolis has six youth camp sessions this year. Two of the camp sessions, one for the province of Ontario and the other for the province of Quebec, will take place on the wonderful 84 acre property of our Metropolis, situated between Montreal and Toronto, which includes 16 buildings. Another four camp sessions will take place elsewhere in Canada. (Note here that Canada is the second largest country in the world after Russia.)
Metropolitan Sotirios is trying to visit each camp session, where he celebrates an outdoor Divine Liturgy with all the campers receiving Holy Communion.
Metropolitan Sotirios thanks and congratulates the Reverend Fathers who are responsible for the camps: Fr. Th. Drakos, Fr. C. Economou, Fr. K. Tsiolas, Fr. Z. Nterekas and Fr. P. Maropoulos, along with many other priests who assist with the operation of the camps, including Fr. Ch. Achilleos. Also, Metropolitan Sotirios thanks and congratulates all the camp councillors, who are taking part as group leaders and organizers.
During the camp session of Ontario, which had 160 campers, Metropolitan. Sotirios celebrated an outdoor Divine Liturgy as a simple priest and Fr. Th. Drakos, Fr. Ch. Achilleos, Fr. T. Porfiris and Fr. N. Papageorgiou assisted with distributing Holy Communion.
In his homily, Metropolitan. Sotirios spoke on the theme of the camp, “The Spirit Awakens”. He requested that beginning next year every camp of our Holy Metropolis must have at least four sessions each and announced that the camp grounds will be transformed as a Greek village with additional hotel-type buildings, and in the future will be hosting clergy-laity assemblies, and all kinds of spiritual gatherings.
