(in part conjointly with the Fifteenth Session of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO)
Commission for Aeronautical Meteorology (CAeM) including Technical Conference)
The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) will be holding the Meteorology Divisional Meeting in Montréal, between 7 and 18 July 2014, in part conjointly with the Fifteenth Session of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) Commission for Aeronautical Meteorology (CAeM-XV). The participation of Member States of both organizations, as well as invited international organizations, will provide the international civil aviation community the opportunity to address, as a whole, issues vital to the current and future provision of aeronautical meteorological services.
Central to the meeting’s deliberations will be supporting the “One Sky” concept as it relates to the Global Air Navigation Plan and the meteorological component of the Aviation System Block Upgrade (ASBU) methodology. The integration of meteorological information exchange developments into the future system wide information management digital environment will also be key to the discussions. The joint ICAO/WMO platform affords the opportunity to develop shared technical provisions for inclusion in ICAO Annex 3 — Meteorological Service for International Air Navigation and the associated WMO Technical Regulations, in keeping with the Working Arrangements between the International Civil Aviation Organization and the World Meteorological Organization (Doc 7475).
The recommendations developed by the Meteorology Divisional Meeting will set forth global objectives and implementation timelines, and direct the course of work for enhancing the provision of meteorological service to international air navigation for the next decade or more.
