Elektra by Richard Strauss from Create Opera

Create Opera's inaugural performance begin a journey to create a new orchestration of one of Richard Strauss's greatest operas. Performers will work with Artistic Advisor William Hicks and Stage director to deepen their understanding of the score and inform their interpretations and performances. This concert performance will be performed with piano to begin a campaign to raise funds for the debut of Jestin Pieper's orchestral reduction of Strauss's incredible score.
And, they're fortunate enough to have the right people available at the right time to make this project a reality. Choosing projects that suit people who want to work with most is a huge part of their mission: "we believe it leads to exciting, authentic performances".

Jestin Pieper, Artistic Director
Jestin Pieper is a versatile and intuitive coach, accompanist, teacher and solo pianist. He frequently appears with collaborates with singers and appears with opera companies throughout the NYC area. He was the Assistant Conductor on the world premiere of “A Certain Quiet” at the Theater for a New City the Martha Cardona Opera Theater, and Conducted Purcell’s “Dido & Aeneas” at LICAM.
As a soloist, he has performed the piano solo in Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy, as a guest artist for the Discovery channel and appeared as a recitalist at venues throughout the US including at the Aspen Music Festival, Brevard Music Center, and Mediterranean Opera Studio in Palermo, Italy.
He holds a BM with honors from Lawrence University and an MM from the Butler School of Music at UT Austin. He has been invited to speak at piano pedagogy conferences and holds the belief that every individual has the capacity to achieve musical proficiency and benefit from the knowledge and practice of music.

Elektra, Elisabeth Shoup
Hailed as "a deep and powerful soprano of great solidity up to the top of the staff," who "sang Gioconda with great force and bite and a strong, even sound," Elisabeth Shoup is quickly making a name for herself as an interpreter of the dramatic soprano reperatoire. In addition to La Gioconda, recent performances include the role of Deianera in the American Premier of Panagiotis Karousos' "The Olympic Flame" at Lincoln Center.
Formerly a mezzo, she received acclaim for her 'finely sung' and 'sexily androgenous' performance of Carmen with the Dell'Arte Opera Ensemble. Her current roles range from Elektra, Ariadne and Sieglinde to Turandot, Abigaile and Gioconda. Upcoming performances include a recital with pianist Jestin Pieper.

Chrysothemis, Lauren Onsrüd
Soprano Lauren Onsrüd made her debut this season as Giorgetta in Puccini’s Il Tabarro with Garden State Opera. She will also be seen as a featured soloist with New Jersey’s Coro Lyrico and in a solo recital series in Portland, Maine. She has performed with the Opera Company of Brooklyn, dell’Arte Opera Ensemble as well as extensively throughout New England and the Midwest, in roles that include the title role in Luisa Miller, Gretel, Micaela, Rosalinde, and Magda in La Rondine with the Kansas City Metro Opera, UMKC Opera and the University of Southern Maine. She was previously a young artist with the Halifax Summer Artist’s Workshop and PortOPERA’s Emerging Artist Program.

Klytämnestra, Eowyn Driscoll
“Thrilling” contralto Eowyn Driscoll is a versatile singer with a voice of unusual size, color, and range. 2015-2016 is an exciting season for Eowyn, featuring several role and company debuts. She will attend the International Opera Studio Mastercourse with Raina Kabivanska in Gijon, Spain, during August 2016, on a merit scholarship. She recently made several role debuts, including Maddalena (Rigoletto), La Frugola (Il tabarro), La Badessa (Suor Angelica), The Mother (Hansel and Gretel) and Filieppineva (Eugene Onegin).  Eowyn was a 2014 finalist in the Ensemble 212 Young Artist competition, singing Beethoven’s Concert Aria “Ah Perfido”. Other roles include Dryade (Ariadne auf Naxos), Ottavia (The Coronation of Poppaea), and Woglinde (Das Rheingold). Eowyn regularly performs on concerts with the Northern Manhattan Arts Alliance, an organization dedicated to celebrating and uplifting the diverse talents of Uptown Manhattan.

Orestes, Charles Schneider
Baritone Charles Schneider has performed more than 30 roles throughout the country since his professional debut in the summer of 1999 as the Baron in Verdi's La Traviata with The Wildwood Park for the Performing Arts in Little Rock Arkansas.  Last season, Charles made his debut with Boheme Opera NJ as Schaunard in Puccini's masterpiece, La Boheme.  Charles has also been seen in such roles as: Sharpless (Madama Butterfly), Ford (Falstaff), Conte di Luna (Il Trovatore), Michele (Il Tabarro) and Scarpia (Tosca). Charles also enjoys a thriving teaching schedule and is on the voice faculties of Westminster School of the Arts of Rider University and The Lawrenceville School in NJ.  Upcoming events include Falke in Die Fledermaus with Boheme OperaNJ.
