musicAeterna Orchestra performed the first movement of Symphony No. 7 by Dmitry Shostakovich

musicAeterna took part in the ceremony of transferring the siege archive of Leningrad Radio for keeping in the State Archive Fund. The ceremony was held in Dom Radio, the place of production and storage of the unique recordings.

After the transfer ceremony and signing the agreement, the musicAeterna Orchestra performed the first movement of Symphony No. 7 by Dmitry Shostakovich. The symphony, nicknamed the Leningrad, has taken a special place not only in the history of music, but also in the 20th century world history. The sketches for the symphony, written before the war, acquired new features with the beginning of the fascist invasion and became a legend after premiere in the besieged Leningrad in August 1942.
Rehearsals of the orchestra, assembled in the most difficult time, took place in Dom Radio’s studios. From there on August 9, the symphony was broadcast to the whole world. Nowadays, the First studio of Dom Radio is named after Dmitry Shostakovich. Future plans of musicAeterna include equipping it with a new world-class recording studio “Pobeda”, improving and fully revealing the outstanding acoustic capabilities of this space.
The transfer ceremony was held a day before the 77th anniversary of the lifting of the siege of Leningrad. The musicAeterna team congratulates the veterans and residents of the city. We wish you good health, peace, and prosperity!
