The Prometheus Bound opera was applauded frequently at the Galatsi Festival 2019 Saturday, July 20, 2019. The presentation of the opera "Prometheus Bound" directed by Irini Konsta took place with great success at the open-air theater of Veikou Grove. Leading performers include Vasilis Asimakopoulos (Prometheus), Irini Konsta (Io), Katerina Botoni (Violence / Athena), Mariza Kioseoglou (Oceanid), Chrysostomos Kalogridakis (Ocean / Hermes) and pianist Pantelis Legakis. The Municipal Theater Group of Galatsi participated in the direction of Dimitris Kotsis for the Choir of Oceanids with Jenny Zaroulea, Lina Magnissi, Mamili Balakli, Popi Paraskevapoulos, Kyriaki Tzoi. The opera was prefaced by Margarita Mandilara, President of the Municipality of Galatsi Cultural and Sport Organization, and the composer Panagiotis Karousos.
The music impresses with its staggered character that unites music with poetry and highlights Aeschylus' lyrical ancient poetry in poet Gryparis translation. Also, speaking and singing alternations link the opera to the ancient tragedy. The director Irini Konsta treats in a nice way the static background of the work and the opera with a special emphasis on hand movements and expressions of the artists. As a lyric performer in the role of Io, the soprano Irini Konsta was unprecedented, showing the theatrical style of the arias and the inner tension of the heroine. Bass Vasilis Asimakopoulos was shocked in the role of Prometheus, releasing a unique grandeur of rigor and secrecy in an incredible musicality. Mezzo Katerina Botoni has a beloved voice with round homogeneity and interprets with respect and absolute precision the difficult part of the roles of Via and Athena. The lyric tenor Chrysostomos Kalogridakis interpreted the roles of Ocean and Hermes, and soprano Mariza Kioseoglou the role of the nymph Oceanid. The excellent music accompaniment was by pianist Pantelis Legakis.
More than 500 spectators attended for the opera Prometheus Bound at the Galatsi Festival 2019, proving that the opera is a popular kind of music that can be played in every neighborhood.
