|V. Rev. Archimandrite Ignatios Delis|
The V. Rev. Archimandrite Ignatios Delis served as the Dean of our Theological Academy for the past 10 years. Metropolitan Sotirios, as well as the Academy Board of Directors and our Holy Metropolis, are grateful to him for his excellent work, and express the appreciation of our Church to him. At Fr. Ignatios’ request, the Metropolitan has entrusted the duties of the Dean of the Academy to a younger person.
In his place, the V. Rev. Archimandrite Christodoulos Papadeas has been appointed as the new Dean of our Theological Academy. Fr. Christodoulos was born and raised in the United States and graduated from the Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology in Boston with a Master’s degree. He is a very pious and devout clergyman with great spirituality. He is familiar with our Holy Metropolis, having visited it for many years to hear the confessions of the faithful in various parish communities.
Our Theological Academy has been in operation since 1998 and offers a four-year program. It is affiliated with Saint Paul University in Ottawa and the degree it confers is recognized by all the universities around the world. Up to this point, 43 young men have graduated from the Theological Academy and 25 have been ordained and worthily serve our communities across Canada. All of them speak Greek, and are well trained in theology, as well as Byzantine music.
For the 2016 – 2017 academic year, the Academy will have a total of 14 students.
Metropolitan Sotirios announced the appointment of the new Dean at a meeting he had with the 14 professors of the Theological Academy. Fr. Christodoulos was enthusiastically received by the faculty.
Metropolitan Sotirios thanked Fr. Ignatios and the professors of the Theological Academy. He fervently welcomed the new Dean and stated: “I thank and praise our Thrice-Holy God that our Theological Academy has done so well until now and I have no doubt that with Fr. Christodoulos as the new Dean, it will continue on its beautiful upward path and with more successes.”
