BIENNIAL CLERGY RETREAT of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Toronto (Canada)

This year's clergy retreat took place in Kingston, ON and was attended by 44 priests from across the country. The retreat began on Monday, April 30 and finished on Thursday, May 3.

The overall theme of this year's retreat was "Clergy Burnout & Stress" and the following presentations were given:

1. "Fatherhood & Friendship": Rev. Fr. Bohdan Hladio.

2. "Clergy Burnout & Stress": Rev. Fr. George Morelli

3. "Current Issues": His Eminence Metropolitan Sotirios

4. "Dealing with Marital Problems": Dr. Al Rossi

5. "Interior Balance: Finding Personal Prayer in a Busy Parish Life": His Grace Bishop Christoforos

6. Open Discussion and Brainstorming Session for Next Clergy Laity

Every day started with an Orthros Service and ended with a Divine Liturgy or Paraklisis Service.

The great responsibility of organizing this retreat fell on the shoulders of the Presbyters’ Council of Canada, headed by the current president Rev. Fr. Theodore Paraskevopoulos, who in co-operation with Rev. Fr. Chrysostom Achilleos, the priest of the hosting community, organized a wonderful event.

The theme and presentations of this year's retreat offered much spiritual and practical education to our brother clergy and all were impressed and enjoyed the experience.

On Tuesday evening, May 1, His Eminence Metropolitan Sotirios, along with all the clergy of Canada, celebrated Divine Liturgy at Koimisis Tis Theotokou, Kingston. After the Liturgy the community of Kingston offered dinner for all the guests. We thank them, along with Fr. Chrysostom, for all their hospitality.

The retreat took place at the Travelodge Kingston where the owners, the Karkoulis brothers, provided exemplary hospitality and even provided a meal for the clergy free of charge. We thank them for their love and support.

At the beginning of the retreat, on behalf of all the participants, His Eminence submitted filial love and respect to our Ecumenical Patriarch His All Holiness Bartholomew I and asked for his blessings.
