Stabat Mater of Giovanni Battista Pergolesi In Ravello Holy Saturday in the sign of sacred music

In Ravello Holy Saturday in the sign of sacred music

The Fondazione Ravello celebrates the Easter holidays with a concert that, on the afternoon of Holy Saturday (30 March), will take place in the Church of San Giovanni del Toro.
At 17.30 Insieme strumentale di Roma will perform the Stabat Mater of Giovanni Battista Pergolesi.
Conducting the concert will be violinist and violist Giorgio Sasso, leader of the ensemble born in 1990 as a promoter of the dissemination, research and execution of the western music repertoire of the 17th and 18th centuries.
The Stabat Mater is one of the most sublime pages of the entire history of sacred music, composed by Pergolesi just a few months before his death.
This Stabat Mater provides, as usual, the use of only strings with continuous bass and the presence of only soprano and contralto voices, alternating in the series of duets and solo airies. In Ravello the voices will be those of Minni Diodati and Federica Moi.
To complete the formation Teresa Ceccato on violin; Gabriele Politi on viola; Marco Ceccato on cello; Luca Cola on double bass and Salvatore Carchiolo on harpsichord.
Admission to the concert is free until the available seats are run out.
