Iskandar is Billy Chrissochos' new eclectic Rock band whose musical styling incorporates Hard Rock, Metal, Pop and the ethnic texture of Greek Rock into a fresh modern sound.
Iskandar was founded by the talented singer/songwriter Bettina Kosta along with guitarist Billy Chrissochos in early 2011. The group took shape with the addition of Steve Roseman on guitars, Chris Pollatos on bass and Frank J. Pace on drums.
Iskandar is hitting the stage again supporting Viza at The Highline Ballroom Saturday May 14. Viza, who is on Serj Tankian's (System of a Down) Serjical Strike Records, have a unique Armenian/Greek/Mediterranean/Pop/Metal ensemble that will blow you away (http://www.experienceviza.com).

Art Exhibit to feature Billy Chrissochos' works May 21
The Federation of Hellenic Societies of Greater New York Inc
and the Cultural Committee is sponsoring an art exhibition
and sale of Greek American artists on Saturday May 21st.
The event will take place at the Stathakion Center between 2-8PM.
Deadline for enrollment is May 4th. Registrants can bring in Art Exhibit
On Facebook-"Federation of Hellenic Societies Art Exhibition" samples of their art to be exhibited (copies, pictures etc.) at the Stathakion Center on Wednesday May 4th between 7-9PM. Admission is Free.

An interesting fact about the name Iskandar
Iskandar or Eskandar (Persian: ردن ک س ا) is the Persian version of the name Alexander, after
Alexander the Great (Greek: Μεγας Αλεξανδρος, Mégas Aléxandros). It is used as a male first name in the Middle East, Central Asia and South Asia. Alexander III of Macedon was the Greek king, who united Hellas (Greece) and conquered the known world from Sicily all the way to India and from Egypt to the Caucasus. He spread Hellenism (the Hellenic language, culture and civilization) and was the first to unite East and West and usher in a new era called, the Hellenistic Age. Iskandar the band, takes the philosophy of Alexander the Great by fusing different styles of music, whether exotic, folk, metal or pop with that same Hellenic (Greek) spirit and passion.
