“At the Opera” Returns to KPBS Radio from San Diego Opera

Broadcast of 2011 International Season

Returns to Airwaves Beginning Sunday, May 28, 2011

San Diego, CA – San Diego Opera announced today that it will broadcast each of the four operas of its 2011 International Season on KPBS Radio beginning with Puccini’s Turandot on Sunday, May 28, 2011 at 7 PM.

“We are very pleased to renew our relationship with KPBS which is such an important part of the San Diego airwaves”, comments San Diego Opera General and Artistic Director, Ian Campbell. “These broadcasts allow many to relive the excitement of the theatre experience and other listeners to discover for the first time the world-class talent our performances bring to San Diego.”

John Decker, Program Director for KPBS radio adds “We are very pleased to have the San Diego Opera back on KPBS for the 2011 International Season. We share the Opera’s passion for great art and performance. San Diegans are lucky to have such a successful opera in their hometown and KPBS hopes to play a small role in keeping it healthy.”

San Diego Opera’s Geisel Director of Education and Outreach, Dr. Nicolas Reveles, will host “At the Opera” supplementing the performances with historical facts and anecdotes.
