Election of Auxiliary Bishops for the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Canada

Bishop-elect Demetrios (Antonopoulos) Η Ελληνορθόδοξη Αρχιεπισκοπή Καναδά με χαρά αναγγέλλει και μεταφέρει την επίσημη ανακοίνωση της Αγίας και Ιεράς Συνόδου του Οικουμενικού Πατριαρχείου σχετικά με την εκλογή βοηθών επισκόπων.

ΑΝΑΚΟΙΝΩΘΕΝ

Συνῆλθεν, ὑπό τήν προεδρίαν τῆς Α. Θ. Παναγιότητος, ἡ Ἁγία καί Ἱερά Σύνοδος εἰς τήν τακτικήν συνεδρίαν αὐτῆς σήμερον, Πέμπτην, 13ην Φεβρουαρίου 2020, πρός ἐξέτασιν τῶν ἐν τῇ ἡμερησίᾳ διατάξει ἀναγεγραμμένων θεμάτων.

Κατ᾿ αὐτήν, προτάσει τῆς Α. Θ. Παναγιότητος, τοῦ Οἰκουμενικοῦ Πατριάρχου κ. κ. Βαρθολομαίου, ψήφων κανονικῶν γενομένων ὑπό τῆς Ἁγίας καί Ἱερᾶς Συνόδου ἐν τῷ Πανσέπτῳ Πατριαρχικῷ Ναῷ, ἐξελέγησαν, παμψηφεί, τρεῖς Βοηθοί Ἐπίσκοποι παρά τῷ Σεβασμιωτάτῳ Ἀρχιεπισκόπῳ Καναδᾶ κ. Σωτηρίῳ. Εἰδικώτερον, ἐξελέγησαν ὁ Πανοσιολ. Ἀρχιμανδρίτης κ. Νεκτάριος Μοστρᾶτος ὑπό τόν τίτλον τῆς πάλαι ποτέ διαλαμψάσης Ἐπισκοπῆς Κεράμων, ὁ Πανοσιολ. Ἀρχιμανδρίτης κ. Ἀλέξανδρος Σαλμᾶς ὑπό τόν τίτλον τῆς πάλαι ποτέ διαλαμψάσης Ἐπισκοπῆς Πατάρων, καί ὁ Πανοσιολ. Ἀρχιμανδρίτης κ. Δημήτριος Ἀντωνόπουλος ὑπό τόν τίτλον τῆς πάλαι ποτέ διαλαμψάσης Ἐπισκοπῆς Ζηνουπόλεως.

The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Canada joyously presents and transmits the official announcement of the Holy and Sacred Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate regarding the election of assistant (auxiliary) bishops.

ECUMENICAL PATRIARCHATE

Under the presidency of His All-Holiness, the Ecumenical Patriarch, the Holy and Sacred Synod convened for its regular session, today, Thursday, February 13th, 2020, in order to examine and discuss items on its agenda.

During this meeting, at the request of His-All Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, the members of the Holy and Sacred Synod duly casted their votes in the Sacred Patriarchal Church, electing unanimously three Auxiliary Bishops under His Eminence Archbishop Sotirios of Canada. Specifically, those elected are V. Rev. Archimandrite Nektarios Mostratos, with the title Bishop of Keramon, the V. Rev. Archimandrite Alexander Salmas, with the title Bishop of Patara, and the V. Rev. Archimandrite Demetrios Antonopoulos with the title Bishop of Zenoupolis.
