Mr. Ioannis Maronitis, President of International Action ART and UNESCO Club of Piraeus and Islands visited the Karpathos island

Visit of the President of International Action ART and the UNESCO Club of the Department of Piraeus and Islands, Mr. Ioannis Maronitis, to the beautiful island of Karpathos with its huge cultural heritage, officially invited by the authorities of the Island. Mr Maronitis had meetings with the Mayor of the Island, Mr. Ioannis Nisyrios, who proposed to Mr. Maronitis the title of honorary citizen of Karpathos. He also met with the Prefect of Karpathos and Kassos Mr. Nikolaidou, the Metropolitan of Karpathos and Kassos Mr. Ambrosios Lavriotis-Panagiotidis, the pastor of Olympus Fr. Ioannis Diakogeorgiou, community leaders and other executives of the island.

He was given a tour of the Archaeological Museum of Karpathos and had the opportunity with the president of the Wells of Karpathos, Mr. Giorgos Hatzikoutsos, who edited his program, to attend and participate in the Traditional Feast at the Olympus of Karpathos and enjoy traditional mezenes, a wonderful cook with golden hands.

It was agreed with the authorities of the Island to organize in Piraeus in February a three-day Tribute to the History and the people of Karpathos. The President of the Club for UNESCO of Piraeus and Islands, Ioannis Maronitis, was in Olympus of Karpathos on August 15, during his visit to the island of Karpathos.
