More information about the lecture "The Opéra Garnier":
Online conference hosted by Céline Glon from Zoom on Paris.

During the Second Empire Napoleon III, Emperor of the French, undertook one of the largest urban transformations that developed Paris into a new modern city after the Industrial Revolution. One of his major projects was the construction of a new Opera House which style reflected the opulence of the Second Empire>
The young architect Charles Garnier had the difficult task to lead the construction that took fifteen years before the inauguration in 1873. This lecture will provide a highly detailed portrait of not only Napoleon III, but also a glimpse of Eugenie Montijo, his beautiful wife who is often compared to Marie Antoinette as a woman who played a major role in society and French fashion.
Who is Celine Glon?
Celine Glon was born in Lyon, and moved to Aix En Provence where she graduated in English. She then moved to Paris, fell in love with the city and studied Art History to become a certified tour guide.
What Celine can bring through her lectures is another way of learning History. She has worked for more than 20 years as a certified tour guide in Paris. Celine moved to the US in 2003, and has been sharing her time between California and Paris ever since. In 2005 Celine created "My French Conferences" which operated conferences for adults and students. Thanks to her background and experience, she can come up with presentations that are similar to a guided tour. Indeed, The content of a lecture does not only relate true events from France History but students will really enjoy learning facts from daily life details through the centuries such as food, fashion, dress code, architecture, hygiene, and bring history to life.
