Piano Recital: Konstantinos Destounis | 250 Years L.V. Beethoven

 


On the occasion of the 250th anniversary of L.V. Beethoven, the Hellenic Institute of Cultural Diplomacy presents a piano recital with Konstantinos Destounis as guest.

The recital has been registered at Athens Conservatory.
The program includes three of Beethoven’s most popular Piano Sonatas:
Piano Sonata No.17, Op.31 No.2 in D minor “Tempest”
Piano Sonata No.21, Op.53 in C major “Waldstein”
Piano Sonata No.23, Op.57 in F minor “Appassionata”
Konstantinos Destounis (b. 1991 in Athens) is regarded as one of the most prominent Greek artists of his generation. He is a prizewinner in many international piano competitions, most notably the Grand Prix Maria Callas in Athens, the Southern Highlands in Canberra and the Bremen European Piano Competition. As the winner of Greece’s national competition, he represented his country at the Eurovision Young Musicians in Vienna.
His performing career has led him to prestigious venues, such as the Royal Albert Hall in London, La Fenice in Venice, Llewellyn Hall in Canberra, the Glocke Saal in Bremen, the Megaron in Athens and Thessaloniki. As a soloist he has performed with numerous orchestras in Greece, the UK, Germany, Spain and Australia.
Konstantinos Destounis holds a Doctorate degree from the Royal College of Music, London. During 2017/18 and 2018/19 he taught at the Bachelor programme of the same College. Since September 2019 he is a Piano Professor at the Athens Conservatoire. He is Youth Ambassador of the Hellenic Institute of Cultural Diplomacy.
