Mr Ioannis Maronitis President of the Club for UNESCO of Piraeus and Islands, Member of the Executive Board of the World Federation of Clubs, Centres and Associations of UNESCO (WFUCA), Secretary General of the Hellenic Federation Clubs, Centres and Associations of UNESCO and General president of INTERNATIONAL ACTION ART, participated in TARGET GENDER EQUALITY LIVE event of UNITED NATIONS, convened during the 65th Commission on the Status of Women. The event on 16 March drew over 4,000 changemakers from all around the world and we are delighted we were a part of it. TARGET GENDER EQUALITY LIVE presented the work of Global Compact Local Networks and partner organizations, featuring a dynamic mix of live plenaries, on-demand programming, global networking and practical tools and resources. Also promoted the Target Gender Equality global impact initiative and engaging women-led businesses, the Challenges of Women in High Leadership and thePerspectives. Special Address by H.E. António Guterres.
Club for UNESCO of Piraeus and Islands and INTERNATIONAL ACTION ART, with their small potential, work hard to achieve the 17 goals of sustainable UN development to make the world a better place by 2030. We are so proud to have more women in our workforce, thanks to whom our goals and proper functioning are achieved. The percentage reaches 80% and this bright example proves once again that women can bring impressive results in a business. Of course pay for women and men is equal. Due to the recent developments of the covid-19 pandemic these efforts to create better conditions for the future of humanity have become greater and we need to work even harder on them, especially in the field of gender equality. Τaking into consideration the disproportionately severe consequences of the pandemic for women around the world the United Nations International Women's Day 2021 was dedicated to "Women Leadership: Achieving an Equal Future in the Pandemic".
