𝙃𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝘽𝙖𝙘𝙠𝙜𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙 𝙤𝙣 𝙂𝙧𝙚𝙚𝙠 𝙍𝙚𝙫𝙤𝙡𝙪𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣:
This is the first lecture of the year Hermes 186 sponsored, to celebrate the 200th Anniversary of the Greek Revolution of 1821.
In 1453, the 1100-year reign of the Byzantine Empire ends, as its glorious capital of Constantinople falls to the marauding Ottoman Turks. After 400 years of occupation and countless attempts at independence, the Greek War of Independence, also known as the Greek Revolution, was a successful war waged by Greek revolutionaries against the Ottoman Empire between 1821 and 1830. The Greeks were later assisted by Great Britain, France, and Russia, while the Ottomans were aided by their North African vassals. The war led to the formation of modern Greece.
March 25th is the dual holiday for the Greek nation, celebrating the 1821 Greek Revolution and the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary.

Now the channel is becoming the online video archive for rare and forgotten gems of Greek-inspired films, animated shows, concerts, and documentaries. Shows for our young viewers and the entire family. Our motto “Look to the Past to Unlock the Future.”
