We're holding a public consultation on its methodology to determine the Paris Agreement alignment of indirectly financed EBRD investments.
The methodology will be used to determine whether indirectly financed projects the EBRD may invest in are “aligned” or “non-aligned” with the mitigation and adaptation goals of the Paris Agreement.
In the context of the public consultation, the EBRD will host a webinar open to all stakeholders to explain the Bank’s approach. EBRD staff will provide an overview of the Bank’s approach to Paris alignment and then an overview of the methodology, explaining its use in the Bank’s project cycle.
In the course of the webinar, participants will be invited to ask questions and discuss the content of the presentations.
The language of the webinar will be English.
Background
The consultation on EBRD’s “methodology to determine the Paris Agreement alignment of indirectly financed EBRD investments” is open between 16 December 2021 and 4 February 2022. The EBRD invites comments which should be sent to the email address: ParisAgreement@EBRD.com.
The scope of the methodology for public consultation is EBRD’s proposal for determining the Paris alignment of its indirectly financed investments. Specifically, it refers to EBRD finance extended to financial intermediaries that finance a set of sub-transactions to end beneficiaries (through sub-projects or sub-investments).
The Bank’s approach to indirect finance complements its approach for directly financed investments, which underwent public consultation in June 2021. This methodology and a summary of the responses to the public consultation are available.
In 2022, the Bank will publish a consolidated final Paris alignment approach covering all financing types used by the Bank. This consolidated publication will be based on the direct and indirect finance methodologies for Paris alignment that underwent public consultation.
