The third of Mozart's collaborations with librettist Lorenzo da Ponte, Cosi fan tutte -- like Le nozze di Figaro and Don Giovanni -- is full of surprising depths and moral challenges. And, of course, of gorgeous music! Dr. Rebecca Plack, former chair of San Francisco Conservatory of Music's History Department and a singer herself, will be our guide. Author of The Substance of Style: How Singing Creates Sound in Lieder recordings, her exciting dream is to record Clara Schumann's complete songs -- on a Wieck fortepiano!
Come early for refreshments and (often but not guaranteed) a chance to chat with the evening's speaker. We try to begin promptly at 7:30 and conclude at 9 pm. Masks are required. Seating will be staggered to reflect the 6' distancing requirement.
ADMISSION: $10/person.
Please note: This is a recurring event ONLY because it is one in an ongoing series of "opera previews" (or talks) designed to help its audiences explore the musical, dramatic, and historical background of San Francisco Opera's performances.
