The musicAetrena orchestra has been shortlisted for Edison Klassiek, the prestigious Dutch music prize.

The jury nominated the recording of Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7 by musicAeterna, conducted by Teodor Currentzis. The recording was released in April 2021 on Sony Classical. The recording has been made possible by VTB Bank's (ВТБ) support.
‘Devilish beauty and breathtaking sounds you didn’t know existed: conductor Teodor Currentzis and his musicAeterna will terrify you in this revealing listening experience,’ the award experts say.
Other nominees in the Orchestra category include the Italian early music ensemble Il Giardino Armonico and the Philadelphia Orchestra. The winners will be announced in December.
MusicAeterna is a three-time winner of Edison Klassiek for its recordings of Mahler’s Symphony No. 6, Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 6, and Mozart’s Don Giovanni.
The Edison Award is one of the world’s oldest awards for achievements in the music industry. The prize, named after the inventor of the phonograph, Thomas Edison, is presented annually by the Committee for Collective Gramophone Campaigns (CCGC) for releases in various genres.
