The Otterbein University Opera Theatre will present a program of scenes by the renowned 19th century British writing partners, Gilbert and Sullivan. Masters of comedy, the two introduced innovations that directly influenced the development of Musical Theatre throughout the 20th- century. With stage direction by Karen Eckenroth and piano accompaniment by Beth Parker, the program will feature scenes from Iolanthe, The Mikado, The Gondoliers, and H.M.S. Pinafore.The performances will take place Saturday, Nov. 6 at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 7 at 2:00 p.m. in Riley Auditorium of the Battelle Fine Arts Center, located at 170 W. Park Street in Westerville. Admission is free and open to the public.
In accordance with Otterbein’s COVID-19 safety protocols, facial coverings are to be worn inside campus facilities by all people including visitors. Singers will be unmasked for these performances but will socially distance themselves from others. Members of the audience will be required to implement social distancing by skipping seats between neighbors, while household “pods” of up to 4 people per group will be permitted to sit in adjacent seats.
