Social vulnerability and development:
Challenges in education, economy and culture
Heraklion, 9-11 July 2021
The Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences, after the successful implementation of six National/International Scientific Conferences, is glad to announce to its members, collaborators and friends, the scientific and academic community and to whom it may concern, the planning of the organization of the 7th International Scientific Conference, with the main topic:
Social vulnerability and development:
Challenges in education, economy and culture
The Conference will take place in Heraklion, Crete, from 9 to 11 July 2021. The proceedings will be held with the physical presence of the presenters. At the same time, sessions of distance presentations and lectures are included in the Conference Programme, for those participants who wish to participate via online videoconferencing applications.
AIM AND SCOPE CONSIDERATIONS
The modern economic, social and humanitarian crisis has dynamically shifted the interest of science, research, education, politics and society, in general, towards the phenomenon of social vulnerability. On the face of it, the various vulnerable, fragile, sensitive and special groups of the population, which are most adversely affected by the consequences of social crises or changes, stand at the epicenter of the reflection. Critical questions, which determine the request for scientific investigation of the phenomenon, are the study of the reasons that cause or reinforce it, the imprinting of its aspects, dimensions and consequences and above all the search of proposals for its limitation, towards the direction of promoting social development. At the same time, more specific concerns are emerging regarding the dynamics of the labor market and employment, the state of the economy, the specific nature of the health sector, the prospect of education and training, the procedures for supporting the affected social groups, the role of enhancement, care and welfare structures, etc.
The main purpose of the 7th International Scientific Conference of the Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences is the scientific investigation of vulnerability in personal and social life, particularly in the circumstances of the modern social crisis. Special targeting includes the study of the aspects of the phenomenon in history and at present, in the fields of education, economy and culture, as well as the scientific dialogue for its confrontation.
