The Seminars and Speakers for the Upcoming

Clergy-Laity Assembly of our Holy Metropolis

The seminars and speakers for the 29th Clergy-Laity Assembly, which will take place together with the Philoptochos and Youth Assemblies in Belleville, Ontario from May 26 to June 1, 2017, were finalized at the most recent Synaxis of Clergymen in Toronto and Montreal.

The main theme of the Clergy-Laity Assembly is “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them” and the keynote speaker will be Metropolitan Sotirios.

The remaining themes are:

1. All of us are children of God – How to be saved

Speaker: Rev. Fr. Lambros Kamperidis

2. Raising Saints – Parents and children

Speaker: Dr. Fotis Karantonis

3. Strategies for Communities – Good management

Speaker: Archon Hartoularios Nicholas Pagonis, President HCGM

4. Reconnecting families with the Church – Hardware and Software

Speaker: Mr. E. Sotiropoulos

5. Finances of the Communities and the salvation of people – Tithing

Speaker: Mr. Dimitrios Koutougos, President of Ypapanti GOC, Victoria

6. Orthodox Faith and Greek Education – Connecting salvation with Greek Education

Speaker: Archon Depoutatos Spyros Volonakis, Director of Greek Education

The participation of the clergymen at both the Toronto and Montreal bi-monthly Synaxis was excellent. Among other topics discussed was the graduation ceremony for the students of our Theological Academy and the topic, “The priest as the soul of the Community.”

Both Synaxis were chaired by Metropolitan Sotirios and began with prayer, studying and discussing the Bible verse, “You are the salt of the earth… You are the light of the world…”
