Ioannis Maronitis, president of Club for UNESCO of Piraeus & Islands and INTERNATIONAL ACTION ART presented a big concert celebration for the 200 years of Greek Independence (1821-2021) at Zappeion Megaron, Athens, Greece.
Record crowd attended to the majestic performances of popular signers performing the “Songs of Liberty” by Panagiotis Karousos.
The recitation of the poems were by Nicole Dalekou and Costas Venetsanos
Performers were: Dimitris Kanellos, Erofili Tzanou, Valia Tsirgioti, Theodoros Birakos, Tzo Antonakaki, Giannis Lambrakis (bouzouki), Nikos Tsachtsiris (bass), Andreas Niakaris (percussion), Andreas Prionas (musical direction on the piano).
Poems Set to Music by composer Panagiotis Karousos: The Enchanted Fountain (Costas Krystallis), Approach (Yiannis Ritsos), Wayfarer (Paul Nirvana), How much I love you (Yannis Vilaras), Τhe child in the river (Georgios Vizyinos), Parthenon (Kostis Palamas), You the sweet (George Drosinis), Caryatids (Ioannis Polemis), In an old church (Miltiadis Malakasis), In the night club (Napoleon Lapathiotis), Learn the pain (Ioannis Gryparis), My world (Karl Marx).
In the program also actress Despina Mirou presented a tribute to Mikis Theodorakis with the Drapetsona song (Bithikotsis, Livaditis, Theodorakis) in the dance of Thomas Colovos. Dance Group Epirotes presented dances for the Greek Heroes of 1821 in the choreographies of Eleni Gkogkou. And Dance Group of XAN Nikeas presented choreographies of Rena Vegou, in the songs of Panagiotis Karousos.
