Η σατιρική Μήδεια του Μποστ, αυτός ο θρυλικός δεκαπεντασύλλαβος κλαυσίγελος, ενεργοποιείται ξανά και παίρνει τη μορφή οπερέτας, μετά από ανάθεση της National Opera of Greece - Εθνική Λυρική Σκηνή στον συνθέτη Νίκο Κυπουργό για τον Κύκλο Οperetta Restart. Ο σκηνοθέτης Γιάννης Σκουρλέτης (bijoux de kant) περιγράφει την παράσταση ως «ένα μεγάλο γέλιο που θα μας σκεπάσει όλους». Ο Μποστ κατάφερε να δημιουργήσει ένα εντελώς προσωπικό και αναγνωρίσιμο σατιρικό ύφος, ως σκιτσογράφος, κειμενογράφος, θεατρικός συγγραφέας, ζωγράφος. Η ανορθόδοξη χρήση της γλώσσας και τα σκοπίμως ανορθόγραφα κείμενά του είχαν στόχο να αποδομήσουν την καθαρεύουσα και να καθιερώσουν τη δημοτική γλώσσα.
Το κείμενο της Μήδειας έχει ως αφετηρία τη γνωστή τραγωδία του Ευριπίδη, την οποία ο Μποστ ανατρέπει με την καυστική ματιά του: μιλά για μια γυναίκα η οποία θέλει να σκοτώσει τα παιδιά της, όχι τόσο για να εκδικηθεί τον Ιάσονα που την απατά, όσο επειδή τα παιδιά είναι τεμπέλικα, ακόλαστα και «δεν παίρνουνε τα γράμματα».
Το Summer Nostos Festival 2019 διοργανώνεται και υλοποιείται με την αποκλειστική δωρεά του Ιδρύματος Σταύρος Νιάρχος, σε συνεργασία με το Κεντρο Πολιτισμου Ιδρυμα Σταυρος Νιαρχος.

Satirical cartoonist Bost’s Medea, written in verse and based on Euripides’ play, has been revived in the form of an operetta by composer Nikos Kypourgos, following a commission by the National Opera of Greece - Εθνική Λυρική Σκηνή for its Operetta Restart cycle. Director Yannis Skourletis (bijoux de kant) describes the show as “one big laugh that will envelop us all.” Bost was able to create a completely personal and distinctive satirical style as a cartoonist, a writer, a playwright, and a painter. His unorthodox use of the Greek language and his deliberately misspelled texts aimed to deconstruct the formal katharevousa and to establish the vernacular demotic.
Bost’s Medea is a parody of the classical tragedy of Euripides, in which Medea wants to kill her children, not to take revenge on Jason who is unfaithful to her, but because the children are lazy, dissolute, and thickheaded.
The Summer Nostos Festival 2019 is organized and takes place thanks to an exclusive grant by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, in collaboration with the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center.
