The Greek Rebetiko Trio performs authentic folk music in the idioms of Rebetiko and Laiko ranging from the 1920s to today. The band's goal is to introduce audiences to the origins and rich cultural heritage of Greek music as well as bring people together through live performances.
Dimitris Mann is an award-winning composer, sound designer & multi-instrumentalist. He has contributed music to highly-acclaimed TV series, films, documentaries, video games, trailers, commercials, and contemporary dance shows in the U.S. and Europe. He has collaborated with some of Greece's most prominent and world-renowned artists, from classical crossover Mario Frangoulis to hardcore hip-hop group, Active Member. He recently completed a "Netflix Original" documentary, which will be available later this fall. Other credits include ASCAP music award-winning 60 Days In, Starz original Insomnia, Nova, Killing Fields, etc. Leading the Greek Rebetiko Trio, Dimitris has performed in more than 200 shows throughout the US and is an active clinician and lecturer about Rebetiko music.
Erini Nomikou is a vocalist and instrumentalist from Greece. By the age of 15 she had sung in some of the most prestigious halls in Greece, including Thessaloniki Palace, Metropolis of Athens and Pallas. She advanced her musical studies at BIMM University in Brighton, UK. Since 2016, she has been organizing songwriting seminars at the "Santorini Arts Factory" festival, where she has collaborated with artists such as Vasilis Rakopoulos, Richard Smith, and Tico Pierhagen. Erini has also collaborated with members of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, to perform renditions of popular jazz and rock songs with great success. She recently performed at the Odeon of Herodes, with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Prague, members of the Athens State Orchestra and the conductor Friedemann Riehle. Erini is currently continuing her music studies at Musicians Institute.
Taso Comanescu is a Greek-American guitarist who has performed extensively as a soloist and with the internationally acclaimed tenor Charles Castronovo. His debut recording, "Epitaphios," features the music of Mikis Theodorakis , while his second solo recording, "Renaissance | Baroque," features transcriptions originally for lute, viheula, theorbo, and baroque guitar. In addition to his classical music pursuits, he has released an album with the rock group Blind Sparrow and is a current member of the Greek Rebetiko Trio. Taso has been on the faculty at Pepperdine University since 2011.
