CHRIST IS RISEN! Meeting of the Metropolis Council in Toronto The Metropolis Council held its Spring session at our Holy Metropolis on May 16, 2016, under the Presidency of His Eminence Metropolitan Sotirios. The meeting began with a reading from the New Testament and discussion led by His Grace Bishop Christoforos. Council members, who represent all parts of Canada, tabled reports on various matters; each was discussed and facilitated the appropriate decisions be taken. Following the luncheon, the Consul General of Greece in Toronto, Mr. Alexandros Ioannidis, delivered remarks to the Metropolis Council and congratulated all members for their work and dedication to our Holy Orthodox faith and Greek traditions. His Eminence thanked the Consul General and emphasized the excellent collaboration that exists between the Greek Embassy, its Consulates, and our Holy Metropolis. In his report, Metropolitan Sotirios referred to the Holy and Great Council of the Orthodox Church and expressed the respect and gratitude of the Church in Canada towards His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew. His Eminence also informed Council members of other recent developments in the life of the Metropolis, with a focus on the need to foster and improve youth involvement in the Church. The Metropolitan conveyed the love, prayers and blessings of His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew to the assembled Council members. The session concluded with prayer and the chanting of “Christ is Risen!”
