(Orlando, FL – November 3) – At 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Saturday, November 26, the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra continues a holiday tradition with its 2011 Home for the Holidays concert, featuring Conductor Albert-George Schram, The Holiday Singers and The Florida Opera Theatre Youth Program Singers under the direction of Robin Jensen. The program highlights holiday music for all ages, including instrumentals such as “Chanukah Overture,” “A Brassy Holiday” and “Bassoon It Will Be Christmas,” and vocal selections including, “You’re a Mean One Mr. Grinch!,” featuring Holiday Singer baritone JC Fullerton, “A Musicological Journey Through the Twelve Days of Christmas,” featuring the Holiday Singers, “Let There Be Peace on Earth,” featuring the children’s choir.
In the spirit of the season, the Philharmonic asks audience members to bring a non-perishable, canned or dry food item to help restock the pantries at Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida. Over the past ten years, the orchestra has helped collect over 3600 pounds of food for families in Central Florida. The orchestra hopes for another great turnout this year.
Home for the Holidays will take place at the Bob Carr Performing Arts Centre, 401 W Livingston Street, Orlando at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Nov 26 as part of the 2011-12 Super Series Pops Concerts. www.orlandophil.org/holiday2011
