SOI Associate Music Director Zane Dalal returns to Mumbai to conduct a concert featuring Tchaikovsky’s final composition, popularly known as the “Pathétique” Symphony, from the French meaning ‘evoking emotion’, recognized for its profound emotional depth and dramatic narrative. Referred to by the composer as the “Passionate Symphony”, Tchaikovsky commented: “Without exaggeration, I have put my whole soul into this work.”
Music Director Marat Bisengaliev performs Aram Khachaturian’s Violin Concerto, an incredibly attractive work showcasing Armenian folk melodies and enthralling rhythms.
The concert opens with Rossini’s Overture to Semiramide. Based on the legend of Semiramis of Assyria, Semiramide was the last opera the composer wrote in Italy. The overture’s grandeur matched that of the opera making it one of Rossini’s finest contributions to the genre.
Pre-concert talk at 4:15 pm in the JBT Museum.
