30 September. The impressed concert with the Songs of Liberty by Panagiotis Karousos took place at the Theatro
Vrahon (Melina Mercouri Open Air Theatre) of the Vyronas Municipality for the
celebration of the 200th anniversary of the Greek Revolution of 1821.
Fine singers excited the audience led by
the amazing Eleni Roda, Dimitris
Kanellos, Erofili Tzanou, Theodoros Birakos, Georgia Siakavara, Tzortzina
Antonakaki, and Kyriaki Vlachogianni. Accompanied by the wonderful
musicians Giannis Lambrakis
(bouzouki), Andreas Niakaris
(percussion), Nikos Tsachtsiris
(double bass), and maestro Andreas
Prionas (piano and music direction). The recitations of poems were made
exceptionally by Renata Anagnostopoulou,
Giota Karahaliou, and Spyros
Haidoutis. The spectacular Dance
Group HAN Nikaia participated under the tutelage of the choreographer Rena Vegou.
The exceptional concert was prefaced by
the mayor of Byronas Municipality Grigoris
Katopodis, and the Deputy Regional Head of the Central Sector of Athens George Dimopoulos.

It concerns the new compositional work of the renowned Greek-Canadian
composer Panagiotis Karousos. The composer of classical music known through his
operas (Prometheus bound, Trachiniae - Olympic Flame, Alexander the Great),
Oratorio: "The Song of the Nations", the Symphony of Liberty, etc., set
to music poems by great Greek and foreign poets. A tribute to the 200 years of
poetry (1821-2021) 200 Years of the Greek Revolution that we celebrate this
year.
A remarkable moment
was the performance of Eleni Roda in
the song "Caryatids" in poetry by Ioannis Polemis inside the Melina
Mercouri Theater where the unforgettable actress started the effort for the
return to Greece the Parthenon Marbles.
Also emblematic was
the interpretation of Dimitris Kanellos
in the song "My world" in poetry by Karl Marx.
Audience gave to all artists
and songs a vigorous round of applause with enthusiasm.
A big congratulations
for this exceptional concert in the Municipality of Byron, which once again is
a pioneer in quality concerts and culture.
