Mr Stratton Stevens was born in Montreal Canada from Greek Cephalonian father Dionysius Typaldos – Skafidas, and Eugenia Poulides from Constantinople and Prussia, (Eugenia’s father Efstratios come to Canada at 1866). His father was born in a Typaldata just outside Lixouri and immigrated to Canada at 1902, (the day his mother was born), through Ellis Island New York , and then took the train to Dalhousie Station which was at Hotel Place Viger in Montreal at 11 years old. Mr Stratton remembers the story: “His dad said that he was 17 years old in order to get a job building the Quebec Bridge in Quebec City .
When the foreman saw the young boy realised that he wasn’t 17 because he looked like 9 years old and refused to hire him. Mr Stratton parents married 1923 and had five children: Harry who became the first surgeon of Greek origin in Canada and become Director of Medicine at The Reddy Memorial Hospital one of the oldest Hospitals in Canada in Montreal .

Stratton Stevens started working hard from a young age and started up his own restaurant at the age of 14th which was very successful and then he continuous to expand his businesses which included two Hotels, restaurants, several pavilions at the most world wide famous Expo 67 in Montreal.
The genius of this man is that he not only became finically successful with his business, but his charisma and good looks and his extensive travels let him to meet and become friends with the most famous people in the world.
He dated some of the most beautiful women in the world and his important friends and acquaintances include from Fidel Castro to President Jimmy Carter, from Aristotle Onassis and Maria Callas to Royal families.
But his closest friend for all his life was Pierre Elliott Trudeau the Canadian Prime Minister and Man of the Century. An other true friend was The Right Honourable Antonio Lamer Chief Justice of Canada.
At his spectacular home on the Mountain in the Golden Square Mile area of Montreal he entertained many world personalities.
Mr Stratton Stevens was also the recipient of the Order of Canada which is the highest award given to a Canadian Citizen.
