Promotions of Priests / Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Toronto (Canada)

According to the tradition of our Greek Orthodox Metropolis, every priest who serves with dedication and distinction in our Metropolis for ten years receives the title of Oikonomos. When he serves for twenty years, he receives the title of Protopresbyter. In special evening divine services, Vespers or Divine Liturgies, when all the priests in the area can take part, eligible priests who have completed ten or twenty years of dedicated service are conferred by Metropolitan Sotirios the title of Oikonomos or Protopresbyter in the church in which they serve. This year, the promotion to Oikonomos has already been conferred to Fr. M. Michael and Fr. K. Kaltsidis. With the grace of God, there will be seven other promotions within the year. All of these priests are graduates of our Theological Academy. We thank our Theological Academy which prepares young people to become clergy, its Dean and its professors who offer their services without renumeration, and we congratulate the priests who have received their promotions. They are worthy!!! We praise and thank the Trinitarian God who has given us good and worthy priests and we ask Him to shine His light on young people to enter the priesthood.
