Under the presidency of His Eminence Metropolitan Sotirios, the Metropolis Council held its Fall Session. The members came in great numbers from across Canada.
The session began with prayer and thoughts on the Biblical reading, “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand” (Matthew 12:25). After the presentation, His Eminence conveyed the best wishes and blessings of His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew to all at the meeting.
Attending the entire session were: Ambassador of Greece to Canada His Excellency Dimitrios Azemopoulos; the Hon. B. Philippou, High Commissioner of Cyprus to Canada; and the Hon. B. Malingkoudis, Consul General of Greece in Toronto. His Eminence warmly thanked Their Excellencies and the Hon. Consul General for attending.
Twenty-three written reports were presented. The necessary resolutions were taken by the Council after each report was discussed at length. Initiatives for the new ecclesiastical year were also arranged.
In his report, Metropolitan Sotirios referred to all the subject matter arising from the last meeting of the Metropolis Council (held in the Spring of 2018) to today, highlighting the Synaxis of the Hierarchs of the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
Metropolitan Sotirios expressed his happiness at the Church’s progress until now. He wholeheartedly thanked the members of the Metropolis Council for their active participation and their excellent work.
His Eminence glorified God that we have such good partners in ministry, but also for the wonderful work that is happening in our Communities from one end of Canada to the other.
The Council ended with prayer and the Polychronion of His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.
