Panayoti Karousos set to music the poem Underground of President Barack Obama
Canada. Patrides Newspaper. May, 2011
Panayoti Karousos presented his new works at Concordia University Loyola Campus Chapel the 12 May 2011, featuring a song on the poem "Underground" of the President of the United States of America Barack Obama. Among Obama's song Karousos presented a Divertimento for Cello and Piano and the songs on the poems of Queen Elizabeth I (Written on a Wall at Woodstock), Apollinaire (Automne), and Lord Byron (Maid of Athens). The music was very lyrical and intellectual. Composer Panayoti Karousos, pianist Claudette Denys, mezzo-soprano Johanne Patry and cellist David Bouchard did an excellent work.
For the occasion Panayoti Karousos was honored by Quebec Government with a Certificate of Honor by Deputy Jerry Sklavounos. Panayoti Karousos added Barack Obama's poem to his compositions for the obscure and exotic atmosphere of the lyrics.
A new song of classical music honored the United States of America President Barack Obama in Canada.

The staged reading is produced by The Katselas Theater Company in association with Human Revolution Entertainment. ABOUT THE KATSELAS THEATRE COMPANYFor over twenty years the KATSELAS THEATRE COMPANY has been a home for artists to create, to develop, and risk boldly. Since our inception in 1983, we have presented more than 500 live theatre productions, many award winning. Originally known as Camelot Artists, we've played host to musicians, poets, actors and dancers. We have a long and proud association with the Beverly Hills Playhouse, one of Los Angeles' oldest and most celebrated acting schools. We start with the beginning - artist and audience, inescapably intertwined. Through our programs and our main stage productions our aim is to create a place where artist and audience have an opportunity to journey together. ABOUT THE FISHER HOUSE PROGRAM: The Fisher House Program is a unique private-public partnership that supports America's military in their time of need. The program recognizes the special sacrifices of our men and women in uniform and the hardships of military service by meeting a humanitarian need beyond that normally provided by the Departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs. Because members of the military and their families are stationed worldwide and must often travel great distances for specialized medical care, Fisher House Foundation donates "comfort homes," built on the grounds of major military and VA medical centers. These homes enable family members to be close to a loved one at the most stressful times - during the hospitalization for an unexpected illness, disease, or injury. There is at least one Fisher House at every major military medical center to assist families in need and to ensure that they are provided with the comforts of home in a supportive environment. Annually, the Fisher House program serves more than 12,000 families, and has made available over three million days of lodging to family members since the program originated in 1990. By law, there is no charge for any family to stay at a Fisher House operated by the Department of Veterans Affairs; and Fisher House Foundation uses donations to reimburse the individual Fisher Houses operated by the Army, Navy, and Air Force. No family pays to stay at any Fisher House! |
