2017 Clergy Laity: Youth and Philoptochos Assemblies

The assemblies of the Greek Orthodox Youth and Philoptochos of Canada began with a Divine Liturgy celebrated by His Eminence Metropolitan Sotirios, with great participation and success.

Over 200 participants from the Youth and Philoptochos assemblies participated in the Divine Liturgy and Holy Communion.

Following the Liturgy, all delegates had a complimentary breakfast, which was followed by the scheduled sessions of the day.

The program of the Youth Assembly included:

• Opening of the assembly and remarks by Metropolitan Sotirios.
• Presentations by Dr. Fotis Karantonis (Raising Saints – Parents and Children) and E. Sotiropoulos (Young People Approaching Young People: Ambassadors of Truth).

The program of the Philoptochos Assembly included:

• Opening of the assembly and remarks by Metropolitan Sotirios.
• Reports from the President, Mrs. Sapho Rassias, and various committees.
• Question and Answer session with Metropolitan Sotirios.
• Presentations by Kassiani Nikiforidou (Addiction: Causes and Treatment), Dr. Nicole Roccas (A Cure for Despondency), and Dr. Nick Vozzoris (Dealing with Aging).

Both assemblies continue with great success and enthusiasm.

His Eminence expressed his great satisfaction with the success of the assemblies, and thanked the outstanding Youth and Philoptochos organizers and participants, the great presenters, the President and Executive of the Metropolis Philoptochos, the President of the Youth, Ms. Katerina Karidas, together with the Youth Board, Mrs. Eugenia West who had the overall responsibility for the organizing of the assemblies, and the devout Reverend Fathers who organized and participated in the Assemblies (Frs. D. Antonopoulos, A. Bandura, K. Tsiolas, and C. Economos).

Metropolitan Sotirios glorified the Trinitarian God because truly we have amazing youth and dedicated ladies of the Philoptochos.

The assemblies continue; tomorrow the Clergy Laity of our Holy Metropolis will begin with all the Clergy and Representatives of our Communities arriving in Belleville, Ontario.
